University of Melbourne / Baillieu Library Redevelopment (Stage 2)

The 3,100m2 refurbishment of Level 2 is the next stage of our engagement. Level 2 consists of a large amount of quiet individual study spaces and existing bookshelves. The brief is to provide students a variety of individual study environments ranging from: tables, laptop tables, banquets, high benches, booths, quiet rooms and tub chairs. We are also collaborating with the signage consultant MASS to integrate wayfinding strategies and beautifying all the bookshelf ends.

The building is orientated north south which allows plenty of natural sunlight to spill into the spaces. Our design strategy is to split the floor into 4 zones, all with their unique character but visually connected through similar architectural language and materials.

We are providing approximately 550 student study areas, with GPOs and USB points to each seat.

Budget: $9,200,000

Stage: Completed
