HOUSE OF NOMAD
NTC Architects and Melbourne based architect, Greg Buhagiar, have partnered with Global Nomad, Snowland Great Rivers Environmental Protection Association and A&D Projects, by providing architectural advice and design strategies for the initiatives building project.
The House of Nomad site and building project is to act as a centre and program for nomadic and pastoral culture and environmental protection in the town of Drito, Qinghai province - Western China. This central and social enterprise will aim to assist in the development of methods and strategies to re-create, sustain and innovate the transmission of Tibetan nomadic culture.
House of Nomad proposes a building for the nomadic communities and new services and programs can be run. A land site has been purchased and this multi-facility building will act as a community space, education centre, library and exhibition space for both locals and visitors.
House of Nomad will not be a museum for things that no longer exist, but a place that can be adapted to the needs of a unique culture that is alive, yet experiencing present risks and vulnerabilities.
